On this site you will find information about the society, information about the stamps and postage rates of Hungary, a gallery of selected stamps and much, much more.

Firstly though, a little background information…

The Society

The Hungarian Philatelic Society of Great Britain was formed in 1964 to foster interest in and promote Hungarian Philately and Postal History under the patronage of Gary Ryan FRPSL. We currently have over 150 members, mostly in the UK, but also overseas. We meet twice per year, usually in Central England.

There is a well-respected society magazine which covers a spectrum of members’ interests, from discussion of new discoveries and reviewing of old ones, and reporting of society matters. We run an Auction, usually twice a year to which members can contribute material. In addition, we run an Exchange Packet Scheme where material covering stamps as well as postal history is circulated to members.

The Society has close relationships with other societies especially the Czechoslovak Philatelic Society of Great Britain with which it has joint meetings once a year generally in the North of England.

We are a Sponsoring Supporter of Hunfilex 2022 which was held in Budapest at the end of March 2022. This was a milestone event organised by the National Association of Hungarian Philatelists (MABÉOSZ) where we exhibited material from a number of our members and our Quarterly Journal was also entered in the Philatelic Literature Class.

You will also often find us at National events such as Stampex and Midpex.

Our Constitution (Version 2A) has been recently updated and can be found here – Hungarian Philatelic Society of GB Constitution.
